Enter the scaling factor of the new map size in relation to the old map size. Divide the new map width over the old map width and that is your X-axis scaling factor. Normally this should be the same value in both X- and Y-axis, but can be different if you are changing the aspect ratio of the map (it happened to me where the input elevation data I used was distorted).
