Useful for converting decibals into amplitude scale factors. For example, calculate the amplitude scaling factor if you want to adjust a sound waveform by
-3dB or
+6dB, or find out what the decibel difference would be if you scaled the waveform by
0.75.
This can be useful, for example, when encoding audio (e.g. using LAME for MP3) to a target ReplayGain value.
